Who We Are
American Partnership for Eosinophilic Disorders’ (APFED) mission is Education, Awareness, Support and Research of Eosinophilic Disorders. APFED was formed in 2001 to connect and assist families affected by eosinophilic disorders and has grown to include both children and adults affected by eosinophilic esophagitis, eosinophil-associated gastrointestinal disorders, hypereosinophilic syndrome, and Churg-Strauss Syndrome. APFED is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization dedicated to patients and their families coping with eosinophilic disorders.
Overview
One of APFED’s goals is to encourage individuals to pursue careers in research of eosinophilic disorders. With a $1,200 expense reimbursement grant, APFED hopes to support and encourage continued research and publication on these disorders. Several professional organizations are advancing our current understanding of eosinophilic disorders. APFED is offering travel grants to trainees in subspecialty programs to cover expenses associated with attending professional meetings. Travel stipends will be awarded in 2007 to trainees involved in research related to eosinophilic disorders. Fellows in pediatric and internal medicine gastroenterology, allergy/ immunology and pathology, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students, and medical students are all encouraged to apply. We hope to facilitate the presentation of information on and advancement in understanding all eosinophilic disorders. APFED will offer four $1,200 Grants in 2007 as long as APFED receives qualified applications for these Grants.
